TIME of the SEASON Fall 2023 Edition: SEQUELS and CONTINUATIONS

Here we are.

It’s that part of the time of the season where we go over the sequel seasons or continuations of shows that happened in the past seasons this year.

We have about 5 shows to into today and well…. first, let’s go over the shows I’m NOT covering here:

Goblin Slayer S2 is a no-go because as much as that first episode of that first season is a long time ago, everything else about it is just dull and as that edginess wears off, who gives a shit about it.

Dead Mount Death Play is just going to be on dub watch, just like the first half of it. I also forgot that Hanako-kun is back and I might just go for the dub because I already got enough anime on my plate.

I know The Faraway Paladin has another season out but I’m going to wait for that dub to come out… unless that might get shafted for another dub, maybe a backlog dub. Speaking of that, WHERE THE HELL IS THE VAMPIRE DIES IN NO TIME SEASON 2 DUB!?

OK, first off….

Let’s dive into continuations first, from the Spring season.

A show that I still forget this show is classified as a shonen show. Yes, this show!

This is Part 2 of The Ancient Magus Bride: Season 2.

Studio Kafka / Crunchyroll

Plot Summary: The College of Sorcery has closed its doors, but that doesn’t mean school is out. With a mysterious attacker on the loose, draining victims of their magical power for unknown ends, the school has been sealed shut to keep its students safe. Chise, too, is now shut inside with the future heirs of the world of human magic, finding herself tangled up in the web of conspiracies, grudges, and death that has tied her classmates down their entire lives. The walls are closing in, and it’s anyone’s guess who will make it to Christmas alive.

Continuing Thoughts: From what I gathered and watched, the first half of this is merely a set-up for something to happen later in this season and well, we got ourselves into some good shit. It is still a slow burn show going in and out but this is slightly an improvement from the last cour. It’s enough to keep you interested and if you happen to love this show, you’re in for a treat. For others…. Well, if you want to see how this’ll conclude, it’s not a bad watch.

MEDIUM Priority Watch.

And now for another returning show from the Spring, doing their 2nd cour of their season.

This time, they got the SIMULDUB TREATMENT!! YEAH, BABY, YEAH!!

This is Dr. Stone: New World – part 2.

TMS Entertainment // Crunchyroll (Funimation)

CONTINUING THOUGHTS: And that’s one less anime I must watch on Crunchyroll and just wait the dub version on Funimation…. Yes, I often do that because switching from sub to dub and vice versa is annoying on CR (it was annoying on Funi, too. Still) and for the show itself…. Well, we got more science and shit going on with Senku and the crew needing to rescue their petrified friends and make sure they don’t break or die broken. I don’t much to say about this except it’s worth watching, it’s still fun and awesome and yes, Senku…. I’m excited.

CONTINUE WATCHING – High Priority

The dumbest rom com returns! No, not that one!!

This show grew on me, no matter how dumb it got. Also, it helps that the characters aren’t that annoying.

This is season 2 of Girlfriend, Girlfriend.

SynergySP // Crunchyroll

Plot Synopsis: After their hot springs trip, Naoya continues his relationships with both Saki and Nagisa. Bringing along Milika (who kissed Naoya) and Shino (who secretly has romantic feelings for Naoya), they embark on a summer vacation full of romance with a fireworks festival, camping, and Okinawa. Milika’s younger sister Risa also appears, making the romance in this neo-standard rom-com heat up even more. A season two filled with summer and swimsuits is about to begin!

Continuing Thoughts: Yes, I get it! This show is just super fucking dumb and idiotic and yet I’m intriguing to watch more of this. While the characters and by characters, I mean Naoya, gets dumber every time he’s on-screen, he always has that expression of trying to appease everyone in his harem but they know the shit he says is stupid as hell! Like, with Kazuya from RAG, it’s more pity than hilarious and unlike the antics in Urusei Yatsura, I don’t feel frustrated or annoyed at everyone or want to get away from them ASAP. Hell, I already got a favorite girl on the show (it’s Nagisa, BTW) and we are getting a dub for this, so yeah, I’m in.

CONTINUE WATCHING – Medium/High Priority

It’s time for anime’s most beloved family of 2022 to come back to our lives! From our two sexy leads to our adorable little daughter.

That’s right, folks!

This is Season 2 of Spy X Family.

Wit Studio/CloverWorks // Crunchyroll

Plot Synopsis: Twilight, the greatest spy involved in the cold war between Westalis and Ostania, is continuing his mission as Loid Forger, an unassuming psychiatrist and family man. He’s gotten used to watching cartoons when his (psychic) daughter Anya asks, and he’s learning to depend on his (assassin) wife by asking her to do things like pick up the groceries. But what’s this? Yor seems to be in a terrible mood! Loid must preserve his family at all costs, so he plans a perfect date day to cheer Yor up…too bad what’s wrong is that Yor’s been shot in the butt and can’t tell him. It’s a good thing Anya and Franky are ready to tail them to make sure that nothing goes wrong.

Continuing Thoughts: So, in the first episode return, Yor gets Martin Lawrence’d in Bad Boys II. Yes, she gets shot in the ass and as you can imagine, that shit hurts!! Loid, being the good husband he is, tries to comfort her like taking her out on a date and oh yeah, Loid and Yor are still very unaware of each other’s true identities and Yor just can’t tell that a bullet is in her ass. Good thing he doesn’t try to be a good husband and get them panties o– *SMACK!!* OW!! Anyway, enter Anya and she got some antics ready, especially for the assassin that tried to take down Yor once. It’s all the comedic goodness we knew from the first season and it’s a great episode! Especially with the ending theme with animation provided by Masaaki Yuasa of all people! Yes, I know the complaints of the 2nd half of Season 1 were not enough Yor or plot-heavy stuff but hopefully it could happen, but now I just love the silly and sweet antics of this.

CONTINUE WEEKLY – High PRIORITY

Oh and last and maybe not least but well, it’s another time of…

PUNCHING BAG SIMULATOR: TENJIKU ARC!

Wait…. Wrong title. But the point stands.

This is Tokyo Revengers: Tenjiku Arc.

LIDENFILMS / Hulu/Disney+

Plot Synopsis: Takemichi has returned to the past once more, hoping to finally right the wrongs of his teenage years that will lead to his loved ones’ bloody demise. His mission is to save Mikey from himself, but first, he must face a new threat: the Tenjiku gang is brutally invading Toman’s territory and is dead set on eliminating every member they find. With the conniving Kisaki leading the charge, it’s do or die for Toman in both timelines.

Continuing Thoughts: Yep, it’s this again! The tale of Takemichi trying to make things right to save his friends but he’s always fucked because this shit happens and that shit happens and why am I still watching this? I know people said in the manga what’s going to happen but I want to see a happy ending for him and his ex-girl!! But yes, new gang, new problems, people dying over and over and over and…. FUCK!!!! Takemichi still getting his ass kicked over and over and cries and cries and—AGAIN! I don’t want to hear about Deku crying from any of you motherfuckers!!

Well, we’ll see how Takemichi can survive this and hopefully we’ll get close to the end but I doubt it.

LOW/MEDIUM Priority Watch.

And that is it!! For now. Again, THE APOTHECARY DIARIES debuts next week, so we get a break from this.

I’m MAK2.0 aka The Blue Hybrid and this is why if I did something like Tokyo Revengers, I wouldn’t drag the shit for that long.
