TIME OF THE SEASON Summer 2021 Edition: INTRO / Scarlet NEXUS

Wow, it seems like 2021 has been moving fast and now we are in July. Yep, 2021 is almost done and we got another 6 months to do so and for anime….. well, this might be the simmer down season. As in, there isn’t much seasonal anime like the previous seasons.

This is more of a light meal anime season rather than a Golden Corral style buffet of anime and yes, I stated this before but it is a good thing. Besides, why you still eating at buffets at this day in this time of age? People be sneezing and coughing at the shit, man….

Anyway, I know that I’ve been overdoing it with watching more new anime than usual but to be fair, some did came out pretty good. Wonder Egg Priority is pretty good….. despite hearing that last episode not being that great but I would rate it a solid watch and the dub is great as well. As for this season….

I’m really going to not focus on too much stuff, especially sequels on shows that I couldn’t really get into or follow as much, so yeah, not covering Higurashi and damn sure not covering that Mahouka spin-off or sequel and yes, there is another one of those.

Now…. let’s get to what we got and first up…..

Oh….. another anime based off a video game, a much recent one and oh look, Bandai Namco published the game and guess what animated studio a part of the BN name did the animation?

Yep, this is Scarlet Nexus.

Plot Summary: Solar calendar year 2020: grotesque organisms called Others have begun eating people. To take down this new enemy, the Other Suppression Force is formed. Saved by this elite team as a child, psychokinetic Yuito withstands the training to enlist. On the other hand, prodigy Kasane was scouted for her abilities. But Kasane’s dreams tell her strange things, dragging the two into an unavoidable fate.

First Thoughts: So, this actually premiered way earlier than today, but like on YouTube and I would talk about it earlier, along with the premier of Sonny Boy but I wanted to save that for the official day it premieres but wow, this one seems like…. typical futuristic post-apocalyptic anime that’s based off a video game and a recent new one at that. Aliens or foreign creatures from another world attack and try to destroy humanity, a new task force is made to fight these things and cue main character that has some power that’ll get explored later on but shit happens and …… wow, this is forgettable.

Maybe this would be better off as just a game. Then again, this anime is basically a long-form commercial for the game, like how some anime is just there to promote the manga.

Yeah, this is going to be on a LOW PRIORITY. Look, last time I watched an anime based off a video game, I tried to understand it but it went in and out my ears and eyes. This might happen again.

I’m MAK2.0 aka The Blue Hybrid and I wonder how the dub is gonna be if they’ll dub it.
