Imagine you are a teenager again and right now, you are near somebody who you’ve been crushing on for a year and you finally managed to confess your true feelings about them…. and they accept your feelings back!!! You’re happily in love and then the first thing she does is ask about your sexual desires and….. WHOA!!!
Yeah, right out the bat, this girl is asking him all sorts of shit like that and….you know what? I’m getting too ahead of myself about this show. I need to put out the synopsis first…..
Haruka Shinozaki has been interested in the class representative, Akiho Kousaka, since his first year in high school. She is attractive, good at sports, and is an all-around model student. Since they are in the same class this year, Shinozaki decides to confess his feelings—and, to his shock, Kousaka agrees to be his girlfriend!
However, he finds that Kousaka is a bit stranger than he first thought: this seemingly perfect girl has never been in a relationship. But even though she is inexperienced, she vows to please Shinozaki in every way she can… such as learning multiple sex positions or his fetishes. Shinozaki tries to assure her that her studies into such subjects aren’t necessary, but Kousaka devotes herself to making him happy in more ways than one.
A lot of innuendo in this show!!! Like, it is definitely NSFW type of show in the sense of the amount of dirty and sex jokes/content in there. So much that….. it starts to get pretty old and mostly annoying. Like it’s 50/50 for me with some of those jokes landing in that awkward strange way that leaves you fucked up in your mind but the other half can be constantly annoying with it becoming stale and just saying it for the sake of just that.
It’s centered on how Shinozaki and Kosaka progresses as a couple and mainly him getting used to Kosaka’s ways about her wanting to know more about his sexual preferences. I mean, I get him not sharing them with random people but with his now-girlfriend, he should feel confident in her…. although she’s definitely weird with the shit and the awkward radar goes upward from there and she’s not actually subtle with the shit. Hell, when they visit her parents, you immediately know where she got it from…. and no, I’m not telling you where she got it from.
Oh, and not to mention, more girls are quick to throw themselves at him, one being Shizuku and yes, she is the childhood friend but he sees her as an older sister. She keeps on making a move on him but of course, too shy to confront her feelings to him and yet….. at least she’s not his actual sister Kanata, his younger sister in fact and yes, she got feelings for him, too.
There are other moments in here that I was cringing, like the whole “He’s a deviant/pervert/lolicon” misunderstanding situation where they caught him in an awkward time (mostly cause by other people like his sister), him trying to explain but they aren’t hearing it and automatically assume that if it walks like a duck, he’s a damn duck. Yeah, I truly hate that trope in anime like this.
To be honest, these are the types of characters I expected in this show like Shinozaki is the straight man in this show surrounded by the awkward craziness of the other characters and while Kosaka may be that straight-forward with him about their relationship, it didn’t get annoying. But on the other hand on Kosaka, she’s the most interesting character of the show and doesn’t abide to the ‘pure and innocent girl’ trope most romantic anime tends to fall on. Shinozaki…..well, now thinking about it, is probably that same male lead that not exactly annoyingly milquetoast but close to it but at least he doesn’t take advantage of that and let it go to his head. Now, the antics of Shizuku does gets annoying a bit but Kanata is full-on annoying with that and that one girl Saori aka the prudish class president who was the one to deem him as a pervert….everything about her is annoying as hell. The one gay guy character Hoshikawa is there to get awkward yaoi-ish moments with Shinozaki and….. OK, to be honest, I didn’t mind that. With everything else going on here, I shouldn’t be surprised at this.
Animation and art, we do have some gag-based animation when it comes to the punchline of each sex jokes and of course, you get those images of basically sexually suggestive stuff like “hey, that cream or milk or white looking liquid substance looks like….” yeah, you get those jokes. Character designs are quite nice and pretty looking overall.
I would talk about the music except that I really don’t have much an opinion on them because the opening and ending songs really didn’t stick out that much in regards to anime songs and the score is not that memorable to say the least. As for the English dub, the standout performance there goes to Katelyn Barr providing the voice of Kosaka and she delivers on that serious/deadpan-like performance.
FINAL VERDICT: Wow….. I was just…. very, very mixed on this as a whole. On one hand, I liked that Kosaka isn’t NOT AT ALL shy about exploring anything sexual and the it’s more on the progression of the relationship with the awkwardness. However, when it comes to the other girls in the picture and all the other shenanigans around them, it went from funny to cringy to “oh, hell, really!?” The show is an acquired taste, something that most would find funny in their own twisted way but others will get annoyed easily…. very easily.
Oh, and I don’t need to mention that don’t watch this with anyone else, especially your parent(s) or sibling(s). If you’re curious about this, just stream it for now and if you like what you see, well….. you got your answer.
