DEADPOOL 2 (or that Sequel from that R-Rated Superhero MOVIE we liked) – HM Movie Reviews

Ah, yes, the other Marvel movie I was anticipating this year and hopefully one that didn’t fuck me up like the last one did. Ok, scratch that, this is not from the MCU and this is Fox-owned…..for now. But, yes, Deadpool 2, and since I loved the first one so much, how much will I like this one? Considering the change of directors from Tim Miller to David Leitch, one of the guys that directed John Wick and Atomic Blonde and seeing how good the action is in both those movies, I was ecstatic.

After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the Yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.

Yep, that’s—-wait, that’s not the jokey plot of this…..let me get the real one.

Foul-mouthed mutant mercenary Wade Wilson (AKA. Deadpool), brings together a team of fellow mutant rogues to protect a young boy of supernatural abilities from the brutal, time-traveling mutant, Cable.

And…..what we got is……what we expected. Let me reiterate….this is a damn good movie. The jokes and humor really upped the ante as I was laughing my ass off the whole time form start to finish. It really got me shouting “WTF” during the opening sequence that is too good to spoil but I will say the opening sequence done like a James Bond movie with the same style opening credits as the first one and man, it is golden. However, while I did liked this, the first one was better. I say some of the plot and characters were a bit rushed, especially with the X-Force as they felt like they came and left although bless Peter (and Terry Crews for being him). Kable’s whole story is…..well, yeah, it’s passe and kinda blah and we know where this is going but yeah, you know what his story is basically like in the movie but I will say Josh Brolin was really good as Kable (that motherfucker is killing it with Marvel lately as him and Thanos……he isn’t going to erase me, right?).

Ryan Reynolds still nails it as Deadpool and still retains the amount of love, blood, sweat and tears he poured into this.

The highlight of this movie is definitely Domino, portrayed by Zazie Beetz, and she was awesome in every scene she was in and the fact that she’s always lucky made the movie even more exciting and hilarious to watch.

The character of Fire Fist or Russell (yeah, I’ll call him that. It’s better than that name)….I do get him with what happened with him in that orphanage and his struggle of trying to not be the bad guy but damn, I personally got annoyed with him the first half of the movie but then second half of it…..I did get more used to him. You also see the return of Colossus and Super NegaSonic Samurai Jackplo– I mean, NegaSonic Teenage Warhead and her girlfriend Yukio, although I felt like they were barely in the movie as well. Then again, the same can be said for another character I didn’t mention for many reasons. You’ll know why if you seen the movie. You’re smart enough to know this.

But yeah…..maybe upon repeat watching I might like it more, but for now, Deadpool 2 still remains to be entertaining and hilarious just as the first one was, but just not as good as the first one in terms of plot and how the characters were handled.

Should you see in theaters tho? Yeah, you should. It’s worth it.

I’m MAK2.0 aka The Blue Hybrid and…….oh god, I forgot TJ Miller was in this.
