TIME OF THE SEASON Spring 2017 Edition: SAKURA Quest

So it’s all about tourism and  small towns, eh? So should I expect there to be any methheads running around here? OK, maybe that’s known for American small towns than Japanese but who knows?

Also, notice that no one is here is named Sakura and the main character has pink hair……. yeah, just saying.

This is Sakura Quest.

Plot Summary: Yoshino Koharu needs a job, and she needs it now. She’s applied to thirty companies and been rejected by all of them, and now she’s facing the terrifying prospect of leaving Tokyo to return to her hometown in the countryside. Desperate for income, Yoshino takes what she thinks is a one-day gig from a modeling agency to work with a rural town’s tourism board. It turns out that she’s actually signed a contract to spend the next year as the “Queen” of a tiny kingdom that the locals have set up to attract tourists.

First Thoughts: I keep hearing that this is Shirobako but for small town tourism and while I haven’t seen Shirobako, I do know of its presence and its fandom (the not-that-large fandom of it) and this episode…..OK, this is very quaint and homey and easily has the most sympathetic things going for it. I mean, being rejected from 30 companies and returning back to your bumpkin country hometown sounds like the biggest disappointment in your life and the fact that you signed for a gig that was supposed to be for one day but ends up being a year of being a “Queen” of this small town….yeah, that sounds depressing and disheartening but I know they were find a way to make it feel fun and all that and of course, like Shirobako, 4 other girls are going to join in on this, too and eventually they will go through the drama and comedy of this whole thing and…..

OK….what I’m saying is I think I know what’s bound to happen here and should I care to watch? Well, yeah, I’m giving it a shot.

CONTINUE on a MEDIUM priority.

I’m MAK2.0 aka The Blue Hybrid and so far, I see no methheads…..yet.
