Last year, I have finally founded a fantasy-set show that actually got me into watching more of it as the show goes. It’s not much of a secret at that point that I’m picky when it comes to shows like this and this is probably the only one to make it to my Top 10 list of last year and now with another season coming out, it’s hope their magic continues here.
Once again, this is Snow White with the Red Hair.

Plot Summary: Continuing where it left off in the first season. (Original Synopsis from the 1st season: In the kingdom of Tanbarun lives Shirayuki, an independent and strong-willed young woman. Her resourceful intelligence has led her become a skilled pharmacist, but her most defining trait is her shock of beautiful apple-red hair. Her dazzling mane gets her noticed by the prince of the kingdom, but instead of romancing her, he demands she be his concubine. Shirayuki refuses, chops off her lovely locks, and runs away to the neighboring kingdom of Clarines. There, she befriends a young man named Zen, who, SURPRISE, is also a prince, although with a much better temperament than the previous one. Watch as Shirayuki finds her place in the new kingdom, and in Zen’s heart.)
First Thoughts (well, again): There isn’t really much to say that this show at this point as it’s still got that magic from the first season that made it so fascinating to watch only now at this point, the story, the characters and all the situations are progressing as Shirayuki and Zen are now closer than before (fuck it, they’re together now pretty much) and yet it doesn’t hinder on their other personas as Shirayuki still has her findings in being a herbalist and Zen still has his kingdom to be in charge. Now we all wonder how it’s all going down this season and hopefully can still be the show that captured our hearts back in summer.
Oh, and if you’re going back on the 1st season, the English broadcast dub is up to 6 episodes at the time of this writing and the performances are stellar, particularity coming from our leads Brina Palencia as Shirayuki and Josh Grelle as Zen.
Hint: The second time those two play characters in an anime that becomes a couple.
Also, CONTINUE WEEKLY. That’s it.
And we are done with TIME OF THE SEASON for the Winter shows!!! And as usual, I’ll be back at the near end of March to give overall thoughts about the season and maybe even shows I start to watch but didn’t cover here.
Oh, and follow me on Twitter @MAK2HybridMedia if you want more of me and my shenanigans online.
This is MAK2.0 aka The Blue Hybrid and yeah, I still think Shirayuki is such a pretty name.
