Now we are down to the top 5!!
And what a 5 it is. Because on this entry, this is truly something to be recognize especially since I mention this anime 20-something entries ago and how something like this is now the blueprint of a certain type of anime because it completely stepped the game up for the genre.
Not to mention, it got us following a certain writer whose works have been considering good to excellent (Well, if he’s writing it. His other friends…….not much with the exception of one.)
Oh, and this is the only anime made by SHAFT on this list because let’s face it, the rest of their shit screams pretentious or not as interesting.
#5 goes to…..
Yeah, yeah, I know people considered this to be typical to put on their list but guess what? It’s true. This is a fantastic show. I didn’t know much about the magical girl genre in anime back then but a darker take on it does sound interesting to watch and it does impress with me with how they handle the reality that being a magical girl isn’t as sweet as you make it out to be and also don’t trust the magical mascot. It also has the point of it being not what it seems to be for the first 3 episodes like it has the standard cute moe girl type of stuff but then once you enter the rabbit hole, there’s no going back and the twists of the story worked in its favor.
