Plot Summary: Sōhei Saikawa is a member of the Saikawa Research Lab. He goes on a vacation held by the lab, and Moe Nishinosono, the daughter of his mentor, joins the group on their vacation despite not being a part of the lab. There, the two end up finding a corpse. The two work together to solve the mysteries of what becomes a serial murder case.
First Thoughts: OK, this is by no means a bad show (at least, not yet) but it’s confusing and stirring as all hell. Like I said, this is another mystery show of the season along with Beautiful Bones and as smart as I felt like this is, I honestly prefer Beautiful Bones over this. Outside the opening and ending sequences, the anime just feels lackluster on its first start. One part of the dialogue has the most long-winded discussions about how 7 is a prime number. You mean because 7 isn’t divisible by any other number thus it only stands by itself? See? But the fault of this show is that it really tries too hard to be considered artsy or in the vein of “WHAT DOES THIS SHIT MEAN!?” And surprisingly, this isn’t a SHAFT anime but A-1 Pictures of all people. To be honest, this is above the shit they usually bring out. Maybe this is them trying…. I mean, A-1 did good and passable stuff before but I don’t know about this one.
To me, this is definitely WATCH WITH CAUTION. I really got mixed feelings with it. At least with Beautiful Bones, the premise is simple and the…well, title character is interesting. This….well, it has a lot to prove itself worthy in my eyes.
Once again, this is MAK2.0 aka The Blue Hybrid saying hey, at least this isn’t the Asterisk War all over again.
