WINTER WONDERLAND is come upon us!!! Most love it while others aren’t feeling it.
But you do know what that means?
TIME OF THE SEASON is BACK!!!
It’s been about one year ago that we launch this addition to this little site, where we take a first look on the season’s debuting anime. Going through the fire whether they were the good titles that many of us will love or if they were shit-tier stuff that I want to burn.
And starting off the season is……
I can tell this is something a lot of fans will be anticipating.
Director: Kunihiko Ikuhara
Music: Yukari Hashimoto
Original Character Design: Akiko Morishima
Character Design: Etsuko Sumimoto
Animation Production: SILVER LINK
Licensed by: FUNimation Entertainment
Plot Summary: Far off in space, the asteroid Kumaria blew up, sending bits and pieces to rain down on Earth. For reasons unknown, this causes all the bears (“kuma” in Japanese) to simultaneously rise up and begin attacking humans. Finally, a giant “Wall of Severance” was built to divide them from each other and end their ceaseless war and hatred. In the human world, at Wuthering Heights Academy, Kureha and Sumika are friends who’ve fallen in love. When they find a lily blooming in their favorite flower bed, their eyes meet…and all at once the Bear Alarm starts ringing, signaling that the human world is under attack.
First Thoughts: I don’t know much about Kunihiko Ikuhara in his directing from what I seen. I remember him directing episodes of Sailor Moon, directed Revolutionary Girl Utena and Penguindrum (I haven’t seen that one yet; review coming soon in 2015) and this struck a lot of attention from a lot of anime fans. First glance at this and no doubt when you hear a title called Yuri Kuma Arashi (meaning Lesbian Bear Storm in English), there will be yuri and lots of it; however, it isn’t a fan service fest as most people suspected. There is a lot of loving in it but nothing I would call risqué…. Sensual at best, but nothing racy (so far). The scenery and artwork is quite appealing thanks to the production team at SILVER LINK and their animation does have a good head on them. Their music is often the highlight on the show from the music cue where the chorus go “BEAR SHOCK” and its opening song has much re-listen value….the ending song, not so much.
This may be the anime I would say that if you’re a fan of Ikuhara’s work, you might love this. If not, you’re going to be confused and wondered what the hell you are watching.
Other than that, I give this a CONTINUE WEEKLY.
I wonder more about this show as I go along with it.
Until then, this is MAK2.0 aka the Blue Hybrid, and I think I saw some bears on my yard. Hmmm, they might be some lesbian bears.
*3 minutes later*
SHIT!!! They’re real bears!!! RUN!!!
